James the story so far (part 4)

Back in Holland....

After his great and succesful time in the USA with the american champion title at 14 months and 3 beautiful litters James came back home to us. The moment James came out of the plane he was again the happy (jumping and licking) boy he was and still is.

And he was also very happy to see his old friends Kenzo and Taco again and also the cats still remembered this crazy dog and accepted him. Because of his age we only had 3 shows to show James in junior class and try to get his junior title.

The first real show for James (in Holland) was at the show in Oss where mr. N Huber (USA) was judging. James won exc.1 junior cac and reserve cac a great start!

15 month old male, nice head, dark eye, good bite, nice neck, good depth of chest, nice balanced body, good topline, very nice feet, moves nicely by coming and going. 1 exc. jr. cac + res. cac

James 2nd show was the show in Rotterdam where mrs. N. Bley was judging again a wonderful critique but 2nd in junior so James could not win the junior title anymore.

And the 3rd and last show for James in junior class was at the int. show in Maastricht where breed specialist mr. Magnus Hagstedt (Signum, Sweden) was judging and what a great win exc.1 in a strong junior class AND res. cac (res. WD)

Critique written by mr. Hagstedt:

Excellent type and style, Beautiful head and expression. Balanced proportions with excellent angulation both in front and behind, sound free mover from the side and strong behind, excellent ...depth of body and brisket, well presented.... !!! exc. 1 jr. CC and res. CC

We also entered James at the big German whippet specialty where mrs. Bitte Ahrens from world famous Sobers kennel was judging. James was entered in a very big junior class and won exc. 1 and the title WCD ClubJugendSieger 2009 ! A very exciting win again under a breed specialist.

But this wasn't everything at the show in Zwolle where mr. D. Paunovic was judging whippets and James won exc. 1 cac + cacib AND best of breed then we had to go in the group judged by Dutch (again) a breed specialist mrs. Stuifbergen-Hoetjes (of Lord Mayor's Home) and what a wonderful surprise James won BEST IN GROUP. We will never forget this very special win.

Not a bad start for this beautiful young dog... of course we continue showing James in 2010 but he will be shown very selectively. And looking forward to his first litter here in Holland.

Thank you Unto and Sampo for letting us have this special dog.. We love this dog not only for his looks but also because he is one of the sweetest and happiest dogs we ever owned.

American Champion "James"

During his stay in the USA James became the sire of 3 litters and we are very proud that the owners of three very nice girls choose James as the daddy of the puppies.

As I wrote before James stayed with Charlotte Lee and the beautful national specialty winning bitch Ch. Oford Tobell Fire and Ice "Ella".

Ella is for me one of the most beautiful whippets I have seen. She is so sound with a wonderful outline, super topline and fantastic movement and head and expression to die for. So when Charlotte told me she wanted to use James for Ella's first litter I was thrilled. And what a littter it is.

4 boys and 1 girl.... The kids from this litter are really all we hoped for and some allready did some great winning in the ring. Wath out for these kids in 2010.

James 2nd litter was with bred by Melody Joyce and Sabine Salo. Name of the dam is Rantina's Derby Hat of Rejoyce a daughter of the beautiful Ch. Bohem Bon Vivant, 8 puppies born Tuesday, June 9, 2009 2 boys and 6 girls.

And last but NOT least James 3rd litter (so far) is with the lovely Ch. Coreymore Here Comes The Sun a daughter of the stunning Ch. Chelsea Where There's Smoke.

Breeders Kim Harwood and Sue Carbajal. This also is a very nice litter and some of them will also start their career in the ring or/and in the field this year.

We can not tell you how excited we are to have our own James babies. And that there are other breeders here in Europe who also see the qualities of James and want to use him in their breeding program.

When James was 8 months old he left Holland for a holiday in the USA with my dear friends Charlotte Lee (Charlamar whippets) and Tad Brooks (Meisterhaus whippets and basenji) James stayed at Charlotte's home with her beautiful whippet girls one of them is my all time favorite whippet BISS Ch. Oxford Tobell Fire and Ice "Ella"

James was still a very young boy but he did very very well in the american show ring. And we recieved many nice compliments from breeders, exhibitors and judges. James won several times best puppy and also a BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES under breeder mrs. Diane Guest.

Tad Brooks is James best friend and was his handler most of the time but on a puppy match Charlotte did a wonderful job and showed James to Best Puppy in the hound group!!!

And even today there are people here in europe who say that it is so easy to make your dog a champion in the USA but thats not true I really like the american system that there has to be a certain number of dogs at the show to win the very important majors for the american title. In Holland for example you can win the cac (four needed) even when there is only one dog entered.

James won one of these majors (a 5 point) at the big show in Louisville (21 dogs -31 bitches and 8 specials) judge mrs. Monica Canestrini.

And then the show of shows the national organized by the american whippet club judge the world famous breed mr. Magnus Hagstedt from Signum whippets in Sweden. James was placed 2nd in a very strong class behind the WINNERS DOG of the national.

Another special win I would like to mention is James winning WD, BOW and BOS under world famous hound specialist mrs. Lee Canalizo.

And at 14 months my dream came true!! James finished his american title!! With a BEST of BREED and HOUND GROUP II under judge mr. Dana Cline !!! What an achievement for such a young male.

James the story so far (part 1)

James full name is Woodbrook's Ask Me How I Feel born in Finland april 2nd 2008. His breeders are Unto Timonen and Sampo Miettinen.

James parents are the top winning American import Ch Fanfares Special Export (photo) bred by Shelley Kruger and owned by Jaana Jylanto (Finland)

James dam is Italian import Ch. Sobers Florianne (photo) bred by Bitte Ahrens.

We only saw James on photos but when he arrived in Amsterdam at 16 weeks and he came out of his crate we said WOW. A beautiful strong puppy with the most beautiful head and expression with dark eyes and black pigment. His breeders Unto and Sampo did not say to much when they told me James was a special puppy. And what a happy and friendly puppy very outgoing and he still is one of the sweetest and most happy dog I have owned.

From day one he is best friends with our sphynx cat Mabel and our other dogs whippet Kenzo and powder puff Taco. And also with children James is wonderful and he can be a bit of a wild boy with children he is very gentle.

James grew up very nice without the ugly duckling period like we see in some of our puppies but was always very balanced and showed a very nice movement from the start.

At his very first show "James" won best puppy in breed (judge whippet specialist mr. Wim Wiersma) with a wonderful critique:

"7 mnd. veelbelovende pup, goed gevormd hoofd en fraaie expressie, goed gebit, goed gedragen en aangezet oor, voldoende hoeking in front, fraaie boven en onderbelijning, goed ontwikkelde dijen, sterke kniehoeking, goed bone, polsen en voeten, loopt voor leeftijd reeds met zeer uitgrijpende pas en goede stuwing, prima vacht, uitmuntende presentatie en prettig karakter"

And this was not all we had to go into the main ring to compete for BIS puppy judged by mrs. D.L. Striegel and James did it.... BEST IN SHOW PUPPY!!!! WHAT A DAY!!!!
